The deep blue anchored at the base of the composition suggests stable matter, an unfathomable depth.
On the left, a dense array of colourful square motifs evokes a structure in transformation, while on the right, oblique and intersecting lines stretch towards a more fluid, ethereal space. A gradual transition unfolds from compact matter to dissolution into vastness. Is this a tension between order and chaos, solidity and dispersal, structure and dissolution...?

Eating is an act of survival shaped by culture through the ages. It is also influenced by human philosophical convictions: omnivory, inherited from our animal origins, has yielded some ground to vegetarianism, with its concern for animal life, and even to veganism, which takes that concern further.

A thin trickle of water bears witness to its silent retreat. Stranded boats, ready to sail in vain, reveal a world losing its bearings. The mountain itself darkens, as though holding its breath in the face of scarcity. In the distance, human silhouettes waver in a light too harsh to bear. Fish remains, stones and dried traces tell a story of waiting and fragility. With this balance broken, people, like the land, are left vulnerable.

His feet finally touched the land he had imagined for so long, and his exhausted body found, on solid ground, a fragile sense of safety. He was alive. That should have been enough to give the journey meaning.
But though he had left the sea behind, it had not left him. He carried the faces of those who had disappeared, the echo of cries swallowed by the waves, and the memory of a dream already scarred.
As for the shore that, from afar, had seemed to mark the journey’s end, it was only the beginning of another unknown.
He had arrived, yet something of him had remained out there, between two shores. For reaching the shore does not necessarily mean arriving.
Oil on canvas 50 × 40 cm 2026 They were there together, at an age when they should not have had to look elsewhere for a future. The unemployment of those who had come before them had taught them how difficult it was to open the door to work. The days passed with the strange feeling that nothing ever truly began. A few things to do, conversations going round in circles, plans that led nowhere. After so much waiting, even time seemed to have stood still. They looked around and saw not only poverty, but above all paths closing before they had even been taken. And so, life elsewhere began to occupy more and more of their conversations. Not because they knew what they would find there, but because life here seemed to promise them nothing more. One can live with little for a long time. It is harder to live without a horizon.

A thin trickle bears witness to the water’s silent retreat. The stranded boats, ready to sail to no avail, reveal a world losing its bearings. Here too, something has withdrawn. With the water go familiar gestures, daily livelihoods, and the possibility of imagining a future. The landscape remains, but it no longer holds the same promises. People leave a land not only because another beckons, but also because the hope of continuing to live there is fading. Long before the crossing comes a quiet sorrow that slowly erodes the will to stay, as the place one belongs to becomes uninhabitable. And so departure begins, silently, at the edge of the absent water.

They were at an age when they could hope for a life of modest comfort without leaving behind all that had shaped their early years. But as their horizons closed in, the burden of separation grew lighter with the breath of a hope kindled by the lights of distant shores. And so their eyes turned towards the horizon. They did not leave because they knew where they were going, but because staying had exhausted all hope and seemed to leave them only a leap—even into the unknown. And behind that hope, darkness lay hidden.

The other side of the fence was close enough to see, yet distant enough to become a dream.
There, seen from afar, the details of an ordinary life took on a heightened radiance: a road stretching into the distance, shimmering lights, cars heading towards destinations that left the imagination free to wander. That glow was enough to conjure, beyond the visible, everything the eyes could not reach.
The fence stood forbiddingly between two worlds: one where possibilities had narrowed, and another that the imagination had expanded until its boundaries had almost vanished.
As the wait dragged on, the dream ceased to be a wish: it became a necessity.
And beyond the fence, the mirage grew ever more alluring as the moment of the leap drew near.

Not every body withstood the waves.
Arms grew weary, breathing became laboured, and what had seemed only a short distance became a world without shores.
Some fought with their last ounce of strength. Then a face vanished beneath the water, and an arm reached out until the very last moment, still searching for a hand to hold.
The sea did not care. The tireless waves rolled on. Only the body ceased to struggle.
On the shore, they will count those who arrived, and perhaps those who disappeared. But numbers have short memories. In a mother’s heart, torn apart by grief, there is no room for forgetting. And the survivors will carry with them faces that will never leave them.
There, somewhere between two shores, a body drowned, a dream sank.

They entered the water, leaving hesitation behind. The horizon was no longer distant, and the dream was no longer merely a few lights glimpsed from the other shore.
Their bodies withstood the waves, exhaustion and fear, until land appeared close at hand. For a moment, the sea offered the illusion of a promise it had never made.
But setting foot on land did not end the ordeal.
On that land, in which they had placed so much hope, someone was waiting—not to welcome them, but to remind their exhausted bodies of the meaning of those borders they thought they had left behind.
Only then did they understand that reaching the shore did not mean arriving.
Beyond the sea, a fence without barbed wire awaited them.
